This is a very nice tour, the staff, specifically John Tripp, were very friendly. There's a lot to like about this trip. It would've been a perfect trip if it wasn't during the pandemic. However, there is BIG problem. NO ONE WEARS A MASK! They write in bold that masks are required inside the cabin everywhere on their website and even in the reservation confirmation. Not only they don't mandate it, even their own staff don't wear masks.Report
I understand that this is a private business, and they're free to do whatever they want. It would've been OK if they'd said that masks are not required; if we knew that masks are not required, we wouldn't have booked this trip. But, when they write in bold that masks are required inside the cabin, but THEIR OWN STAFF DON'T WEAR MASKS (let alone mandating it for other passengers), it's false advertising, it's deception, it's putting many peoples' lives in danger, it's malpractice, it's being irresponsible. PLEASE STAY AWAY from this tour if you care about the health of yourself, those around you, or the society.
Incredible experience!Report
I had a fantastic excursion. Highly recommend!Report
Stunning. Both peaceful and exciting, this long tour is well worth the price and time. You can bring your own food (even a cooler) or get food onboard the Captain Cook. Arrive early to get a good seat on the boat because seating is first come first served. Ask the crew and captain about what you see they are full of details. My favorite thing was the South Sawyer Glacier where we got really close and saw some calving.Report
Overall the trip was amazing because it was the extremely beautiful Tracy Arm. I personally was pretty disgusted by the complete lack of respect for wildlife. Our captain drove the boat right up to black bears that were feeding without any concern for the bears. He then drove right through the ice where the seals were resting, not worrying at all for their well being and how scared they were getting.Report
Great experience. Crew was very friendly and accommodating. They were able to maneuver the boat in very close to waterfalls and when we got up to the glaciers we were able to see sea lions floating on the icebergs and swimming around.Report
Would definitely recommend!
Great captain Steve and Devon and Johnathan. The trip and sights are awesomeReport
At the very last minute, I decided to substitute a day trip to Haines, for this tour instead, and it was completely worth it. This was byfar the most beautiful attraction on our visit. You won't get views like this any other way, and the weather was absolutely beautiful! We didn't see any whales, but we did see a black bear, bald eagles and lots of seals and sea lions. The boat sails right up to waterfalls, icebergs and wildlife, so this is truly the best way to see the region.Report
The biggest thing I DIDN'T like, is pricing. I already thought $135 was really expensive, for a tour that doesn't include a complimentary lunch, but after I filled out the reservation and proceeded to pay, they threw in a bunch of surprise taxes which actually brought the tour cost to $160. I don't understand why they can't just list the price AFTER taxes on their website, instead of surprising people after the fact.
I also thought it was a waste of time to sit at the glacier for a whole hour, with nothing to do. I see no reason to spent more than 20 minutes at the glacier.
They should also have some better crowd control. It's not fair that the same passengers always get the best views, and others cannot see.
I Cannot recommend this enough!!! We were on the Captain Cook and Captain James was very nice and took us very close to the glacier!! The trip will take most of your day bit it is soooooo worth it!!! Got to see bears, seals, sea lions, and a little bit of whale!!Report
