My review isn’t criticism of Dr. Ali but more so Western medical practice. From the reviews I read, most patients are satisfied with his work. Dr. Ali is professional and knowledgeable. I agree with reviews that his staff are accommodating, helpful, and friendly.

In early November 2015, I suffered a severe left knee injury, torn meniscus and ACL, from a fall. I had x-rays, MRI, ultrasound, and multiple doctor visits with M.D.s, a Sport M.D., and Dr. Ali in December 2015. He did not recommend surgery due to my age, but rather recommended physical therapy and a knee brace. The therapy and knee brace helped, but recovery was still slow and painful. In late December 2015, a friend recommended acupuncture. After five sessions over nearly two months, I was able to run an 1.5 miles in 13 minutes 25 seconds. I used acupuncture as a supplement to Western practice and the pain from the initial injury is now practically non-existent. I’m disappointed Western medicine doesn’t practice or recommend this alternative practice. Acupuncture is over 2,500 years old and may have been practiced in China in a rudimentary form 5,000, even 7,000 years ago. There is plenty of information available on acupuncture as an alternative practice starting with Wikipedia. Happy Health!

Definitely WON'T recommend Dr.Arif Ali. After taking an X-ray, he mentioned that I don't have any problem in my knees. Then, what's making me feel pain even when I stand for more than 5 minutes? He said.. Is it? let's do MRI... Wow... I'm not sure if he even checked the X-Ray. I've consulted another doctor for a second opinion and he mentioned that the cartilage is wearing out and clearly explained how it should be and what it is now in my case.

I would refer Dr. Ali to anyone needing orthopedic services. As a matter of fact he impressed one of my Mother's friends so much she became a patient.
I met Dr. Ali after what some might say we a terrible day. I arrived at Lutheran General after a helicopter ride from a McHenry hospital. An accident on my Harley Davidson left me with 6 broken bones.
Dr. Ali put me back together in two major surgeries. One the day after he had a wisdom tooth removed.
The surgeries went fine with absolutely no post op problems. I was told it might be as long as 8 to 12 weeks before I could bear weight on my legs because of my pelvic fracture. Due to great surgery or my healing ability, I was bearing weight and walking in 6 weeks.
Follow up visits with his staff are always a pleasure. Everyone is helpful and pleasant, and with no wait most times.

Dr Ali performed my rotator cuff surgery as well as knee surgery. No problems after rotator cuff, just had knee surgery but I'm counting on same results. Excellent doctor.

I met Dr. Ali in the emergency room of Lutheran General Hospital in February 2016. I had bi-lateral knee fractures (tibial plateaus). He was very calm and reassuring to both my husband and me. He explained the possible steps that would occur during my healing process and possible knee surgery. He was very empathetic to me and my situation. Dr. Ali's kind and gentle nature plus his knowledge of my injuries led us to look no further, Dr. Ali was the only choice. I was NOT interested in a second opinion. Today marks exactly 3 months since i broke my knees. Due to Dr. Ali's care and treatment protocol I do not require knee surgery. He sent me to a rehabilitation facility to recover and receive daily physical therapy treatments. At Avanti Wellness & Rehab my therapy requirements were monitored by Dr. Ali.
I went to his office in late February and two other times since. I never had to wait more than 10 minutes before being called in. His staff are equally as kind and empathetic. Cheryl spoke to me as if I was the only one who mattered at that moment. I had my "list" of questions at each visit and she answered all the questions (that she could) and never made me feel that I was taking up her time. She also advised me that Dr. Ali and his residents could answer any of the questions she could not answer. Michelle took my x-rays and was very gentle in maneuvering my legs, Michelle has a wonderful sense of humor, as she and I laughed during my x-rays sessions about various silly things.
As a result of my amazing care by Dr, Ali and his staff, I do not require knee surgery. I am walking (somewhat slow) but completely on my own and have been since the 2nd week of March.
If anyone in my family, friends or myself ever need an Orthopedic doctor, Dr. Ali and his team will be the ONLY name I refer or go to.
Thank you everyone at OSS for turning my horrible situation into completely healed knees!
