The service at front desk was nice .room was clean . microwave fridge .the only thing I didn't like was location but being last minute reservation for new years Eve weekend . The staff were all very nice, and welcoming. Easy free parking is also very nice as well.Report
However I’m a diamond elite member with IHG and wasn’t offered vouchers for breakfast or snacks etc upon check in. My wife is pregnant and she was looking forward to the snack after a long day of travel. I ended up having to pay for breakfast out of my pocket which was fine to a degree because the staff and servers were very attentive and superb, not the end of the world but what’s the point of having those benefits if hotels don’t adhere to it? The bad doesn’t stop there either, I stayed on the 9th floor and the room was disgusting. Old Doritos under the sofa, stains on the closet door that looks as if somebody sneezed in their hand and wiped it on there. Dozens of unknown droplets all over the place. The bathroom door was starting to peel so they decided to put a cheap piece of peeling masking tape on it to keep the edge in place so the door can shut. But the absolute worst part about this entire stay was the temperature in the room. They have it so you can’t adjust it. It was in the teens throughout this Xmas weekend and the windchill made it even colder.Re: The staff were all very n ... According to IHG's hotel group definition, Crowne Plaza hotels are 'ready 24/7 with premium accommodation, business-ready services, and fast and fresh food...'. Not this hotel. The Crowne Plaza Englewood is a combination of an average motel and a Soviet architecture and hospitality from the 70s and 80s.Report
The Good - parking is free, the gym is not the worst I've seen this year, and whoever was in charge of cleaning my room (814) did an excellent job and notably paid lots of attention to detail.
The Bad - they didn't get the note that COVID restrictions, and guests' patience for them, have been gone for a long time now. Most people didn't buy into the cost-saving limitations passed as safety measures in 2020. We are certainly do not find them acceptable in 2022. This hotel still has limited service, with everything closed and dark after mid-morning. The feeling is that of Soviet hotels before the fall of the Berlin Wall: sadness and despair. The sad state of this old building does not help. Nor does the attitude of the staff: all the people I interacted with were indifferent and looked like they hated their job.
The Ugly - As I do long trips and have to dress formally, the availability of a laundry valet service is a key element in choosing where to stay. The IHG app clearly says they do provide the service. When I checked in past midnight on a cold and rainy night, they gave me a paper that said they don't. Not much I could do at that hour, and the front desk person was completely indifferent. So, ended up wearing the same clothes for a couple of days. Thank you, Crowne Plaza Englewood.
The TV in the room comes with no 'smart' features whatsoever. To be able to connect my laptop via HDMI, I had to get the support of a technician, that reprogrammed the TV and gave a 'normal' remote control instead of the limited one provided in the room. All of this in 2022.
In short: if you feel nostalgic about COVID times or Russia in the 80s, this is the place for you. Otherwise, pretty much anywhere else is better.Re: According to IHG's hotel ... Rooms are big and cleans. A little noisy and the breakfast was greatReport
The hotel is clean, and the gym and pool areas were very nice. Parking was easy and free. Everyone we interacted with on staff were friendly and helpful, but one gentleman at the front desk named Daniel stood out in particular. His customer service was outstanding and he went above and beyond in all aspects. We wanted to say a personal thank you to Daniel.Report
