About Hydrobrew
Hydrobrew opened for business in North County San Diego in November of 2004. Owned and operated by Lars and Sonya Gilman, Hydrobrew is a true family business dedicated to providing first-rate merchandise at reasonable prices without sacrificing top-notch customer service and support.
Lars Gilman is a gardening enthusiast and homebrewer who enjoys making his two favorite hobbies into his occupation. Before opening Hydrobrew, Lars worked for several years as a brewer for the Stone Brewing Company in San Marcos, after having studied brewing technology at the Siebel Institute in Chicago. When he's not tending to his garden or his latest batch of beer, Lars enjoys bicycling, going to the beach, cooking, and spending time with his daughter, Azra.
Sonya Gilman is a certified medicinal herbalist who trained at the Chicago College of Healing Arts as well as a full-time mother (is there any other kind?) who spends her spare time making sure that Hydrobrew stays financially sound.

Excellent customer service. I am a novice, with my father who has been brewing for a couple years now. Damien attended to us and was fantastic! He gave us tons of info on how to make an IPA correctly. We had a few issues prior and did not know what was causing them, he knew right away. He also invited us to attend their monthly brewing class. I love people who know their trade.Report

I've been in the store twice and will continue to shop from Hydrobrew. Killer prices on everything in stock, I have yet to meet anyone who doesn't know what they're talking about, or wasn't willing to give helpful hints on your brewing. They even ask to let them know how the batch comes out that you're working on. They have pretty much everything you need or willing to find another wholesaler to get what you need and prices are always competitive. I'm looking forward to see the variety of grains that they carry or can get, but so far a really great shop to buy and chat beer talk.Report

I have been to Hydrobrew many times already and I just love the variety of craft beer. It's the perfect spot for beer lovers. Martin, is super nice, a very welcoming person. It's my "new weekend spot". Highly recommended.Report
