Although I was trained in the psychodynamic model, I have also come to value and rely on the contributions of the cognitive-behavioral therapists. Research has demonstrated that therapy works, and I believe that it works best when the theory and techniques are geared to the needs and goals of each individual. I also believe that the relationship between the therapist and client is crucial.
Psychotropic medications also prove valuable to some clients, and I work closely with psychopharmacologists when medication is indicated.
I value the diversity of my practice: by age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, and problems presented. Through many years in practice, I have been enriched by the uniqueness of each individual that I have worked with.
