Dare Family Services is dedicated to placing traumatized children with caring Mentors (our Dare Family foster parents) for short term or long term placement. Our goal is to help the children and teens learn to heal while benefiting from the powerful and positive impact their Mentors can have. Many of these children suffer from behavioral disorders, cognitive limitations, Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, and mental illness, and have special educational needs. No matter what the child's specific needs are, they all deserve a chance to feel safe and secure.

Dare Family Services is a private, nonprofit social service agency that has been committed to helping the state's most vulnerable children and families since 1964. Today, Dare has six regional offices throughout Massachusetts and one in Connecticut that provide intensive foster care to abused and neglected children. The Dare Mentor program is a treatment foster care model developed to address the needs of children and adolescents who require intensive supervision and structure to live in the community. The program relies on the one-to one therapeutic relationship between trained, supervised mentors and challenging children. At any one time over 500 children and adolescents are served through the Dare offices.
