Our Story
The Richardson family began its extensive water history in 1939, when Dad "Rich" Richardson migrated to Washington from the Kansas oil fields. Rich settled in Parkland, Washington, where he purchased 7 ½ acres to begin a water well drilling business. One of Rich's three sons, Neil Richardson, followed in his footsteps and took over Richardson Well Drilling in 1955. Currently Neil continues to oversee the drilling operations through his only son, Rick, who assumed company management in 1995.

In 1962, Neil began Rainier View, a water utility company. In the years that followed the company has developed into the largest privately owned water utility in the state of Washington, serving a population of over 35,000 and growing.

What began as a dream in 1985 became a reality in 1989 when Richardson Bottling Company sold the first bottle of water under the brand name of Mountain Mist.

Richardson Bottling plant, located in the shadows of Mount Rainier, began with a mere few hundred square feet of bottling area with only one bottle filler, and less than 2 decades later Mountain Mist has grown to its present 45,000 square foot bottling and warehouse with completely automated bottling lines consisting of three filler/cappers for gallons, 2 ½ gallons, as well as P.E.T. bottles and palletization. Wholesale distribution of Mountain Mist and other contract private labels, range from not only 7 western states but also internationally in Russia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Japan.

Richardson Bottling Company, driven by the desire to provide a truly natural product with honest marketing, continues to promote consumer awareness to seek out what nature intended, nothing added or nothing removed, just pure and natural spring water.

Mountain Mist bottled water is unique to the Pacific Northwest, originating in the deep pristine aquifers of the Cascade foothills. Our spring water passed through nature's most remarkable filtration system, miles of sand and gravel, which filter the water to its purest state while retaining all natural minerals and nutrients.

Mountain Mist water is never chlorinated for transport from source to production facility. Our water is pumped from our deep aquifers directly into our state of the art onsite bottling plant in Spanaway, Washington for packaging and distribution. Once in production our water then passes thru a sediment filter, ultra-violet sterilization light and ozonization system to guarantee the highest quality natural product available. Because we use no chemicals during our purification process, reverse osmosis it not required!

Mountain Mist spring water is then bottled in FDA approved poly-carbonate plastic bottles which have been individually sanitized then capped with a no-spill system for your protection and convenient consumption.

Bottled at the source and delivered within 24 hours, Mountain Mist is pure and natural with a taste individuals and families in the Pacific Northwest have enjoyed for decades.
