We are an architecture firm located in Charlottesville, Virginia. We design a range of project types at a variety of scales and in locations as local as Virginia and as distant as Canada and Europe. We focus on green design for custom homes, office buildings, commercial showrooms, university facilities, and museums.

We believe enduring architecture springs from a deep understanding of the place, the needs of the project and the desires of our client's merged with an ecological, cultural and aesthetic intelligence. Founded in 2004, HEDS has focused on the careful integration of buildings with surroundings. This focus operates at several levels - in harmonizing buildings with their surroundings, and in the integration of building and natural systems, such as cooling through natural ventilation, rainwater collection, and harnessing energy from the sun.
