Dr. Steven F. Berkey has been in private practice since August 1980, all the while located in Plano, Texas, where he married and raised his 3 children. Before moving to Texas, Dr. Berkey spent his under-graduate years at Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, Pennsylvania, just outside of Pittsburgh. Upon an accelerated and expedited graduation after only 3 years of college as a Chemistry major, Dr. Berkey moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he attended the prestigious Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine, which is now named the Temple School of Podiatric Medicine.

Upon graduation, Dr. Berkey moved to Dallas, Texas, where he completed his surgical residency in podiatric surgery right here in Dallas, Texas. He is currently Board Certified in Foot Surgery and a Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. Over recent years, Dr. Berkey has gained additional recognition, education, and training in the following areas, including, but not limited to: training and certification in endoscopic heel surgery, laser surgery using the CO2 and the pulse dye laser techniques, diagnostic ultrasound, minimally invasive foot surgery as indicated, as well as cosmetic foot procedures, for example, narrowing the width of one's foot. He is an expert in bunionectomies, hammertoe arthroplasties, heel spur removal; plantar fascia treatment and surgery, both Joplin and Morton's neuromas, ingrown toenails, plantar warts, as well as ALL foot and ankle problems, including soft tissue, skin and bones.

Dr. Berkey earned his initial board certification in 1984 by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and has since been able to renew that board certification twice through ongoing podiatric and orthopedic education. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Foot Surgeons as well as the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine.

Dr. Berkey is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, the Texas Podiatric Medical Association, the Dallas County Podiatric Medical Association, as well as other local organizations for charity and non-profit.

Dr. Berkey enjoys (really loves) running, reading, bicycling, and is an avid fan of the Dallas Stars and the Dallas Cowboys. Dr. Berkey (or "Dr. Steve" - as some patients call him) has been married to his lovely bride since 1980, and is the proud father of three wonderful, grown children; Jami, his daughter, married to Richard and the wonderful mother of 3 beautiful grandchildren, Benjamin, Jacob, and Annabelle; Tracy, his oldest son, is a practicing urologist in Sarasota, Florida; and Adam, currently a college student, hoping to aspire to and follow in Dad's footsteps.
