More About Teresa L Coats, MD, FACP

Tere Coats, MD, FACP, joined the University of Texas Physicians' internal medicine practice in 2008. Dr. Coats received her medical degree from Texas Tech in Lubbock, TX, and then completed her residency at St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center in New York.

A native Texan, Dr. Coats was eager to return to Austin following her residency in New York. Since establishing her private practice in Austin in the late 1980s, Dr. Coats has treated thousands of patients. Additionally, she has had an active career training the next generation of doctors through her role as a Clinical Assistant Professor with the University of Texas Southwestern.

Dr. Coats is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, The Texas Medical Association and the Travis County Medical Association. Additionally, she served on the Board of Directors of the Quality Care Network through 2007. She has published several articles on topics related to her area of practice.

In her spare time, Dr. Coats practices yoga, plays clarinet, and enjoys skiing and scuba diving.
