About Studio Anya

Anya in Sanskrit, the ancient language of Yoga, Anya means inexhaustibleness. In Russian, it means “grace” or “goodness.” In the Igbo language of Nigeria, Anya means “eye.” And in Hungarian, Anya means Mother.

Anya is framed by the “ah” sound at the beginning and end of her pronunciation. To say “ah,” we must relax our facial muscles and allow sound to emanate from our chest. For this reason alone, we begin to see why the “ah” sound is a powerful seed syllable found in many of the sacred words (Amen, Alleluia, Aum) and considered to be the sound of the heart center by many mystical traditions worldwide. By design, Anya completes a cycle of goodness in “ah.”

Anya represents inexhaustible grace through the eyes of goodness and the voice of the heart - our eternal mother.

Anya stands for Applied Neo-Yogic Awareness.

Anya as A.pplied N.eo Y.ogic A.wareness is an experiential daily practice that integrates the ancient philosophy of yoga with like-minded practices like Pilates, Thai Massage, Reiki and Neuro-muscular Therapy.

Anya translates the yogic essence in accessible terms relevant to the well-being of the modern day seeker.

Anya bridges the gap between thinking and doing, dreaming and achieving, holding on and letting go— aaaah, tis' both a noun and a verb.

Studio Anya

While Anya is a movement philosophy inspired by Transcendentalism, Eastern Spirituality, Western Psychology and Healing Arts like Reiki, it is also a practice or—more aptly—a mind+body curriculum. Anya is a living and breathing concept that is studied, honored and shared through the “AAUUMMM Curriculum.” Studio Anya is the learning lab for this pursuit. Equipped with all the necessary tools like Pilates towers, reformers and chairs, suspension stretching stations, group movement room for Anya classes, spaces for facilitated stretching, bodywork and meditation and a library for self-study, studio Anya is the nexus hub for the practice of applied neo-yogic awareness.
