Good As Gold Coffee is a family-owned and operated business for over forty years. Started by the Goldman family in the late 60's, Good As Gold was one of the first to recognize that there was a need for both better quality coffees and a better way of brewing those coffees. In 1973, Dan Goldman traveled throughout Europe and the Middle East experiencing specialty coffees and brewing methods unlike those found in the USA. While Americans were satisfied with drinking brand name coffees without knowing what was inside the can, the Europeans demanded freshly roasted coffees from identified points of origin. In the mid 80's, Good as Gold sold its coffees at Spag's in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. Spag's was considered an early pioneer of discount retailing and because of the opportunity that Spag and Olive Borgatti gave to Dan Goldman, Good As Gold was able to showcase its coffees and build loyal customers throughout the United States.
