About Studio 101 NOLA

Recognizing a dearth of rehearsal facilities in post-Katrina New Orleans, DJ Boudreaux launched Studio 101 in 2008 to provide an affordable 24-hour access practice space in the heart of the Crescent City. Since its inception, Studio 101 has hosted bands as diverse as Future Leaders of the World, and Friendly Travelers 9th Ward choir prior to their respective national and world tours. With long time residents like Big Fat & Delicious, Gravy, J the Savage and War Office. The intimate size, central AC, secure parking and vintage industrial setting has also made it an attractive option for numerous local bands, who can choose between walk up rates, timeshare rooms or lock-out spaces according to their needs.

Studio 101 is the creation-in-progress of DJ Boudreaux, a Louisiana native who has spent the last 15 years working in various aspects of the music industry. From recording street musicians and local rappers to rigging and doing audio for the biggest festivals and bands in the US, he's been firmly rooted in his commitment to help facilitate the creative endeavors of musicians. Although DJ's resume includes gigs as diverse as Bonnaroo, the Voodoo Music Experience, Tool and NIN, his dream is to provide an intimate setting that encourages local musicians to create.

ArtEgg Studios is the mother ship for Studio 101, which is located in New Orleans at the corner of Earhart and Broad. Originally the 48,000 square foot American Beauty egg and butter warehouse, ArtEgg is currently home to a vibrant community of artists, collectors, non-profits and craftsmen as well as to the Alliance for Affordable Energy's Green Building Resource Center. During repairs following Hurricane Katrina, ArtEgg utilized as much eco-technology as possible, including solar tracking skylights, low-flow toilets, bamboo flooring, a solar hot water heater, recycled building materials and reflective white roofs. It is DJ's hope that he can extend this low-impact ethic to as much of the construction of Studio 101 as possible while maintaining the acoustical integrity his perfectionism demands.
