"Disappointing visit"
by Eldon Kilburg

"We were very disappointed in our stay at the Comfort Inn in Maquoketa, Iowa at 1910 Nairn Drive. We stayed there from 15th to the 17th of June. We spent other nights at another hotel, but wanted to stay at the Comfort Inn because they had an indoor pool and hot tub. When we got to the Comfort Inn, the room smelled. Luckily, my wife brought air freshener that we had to use several times during our stay. Then we found our door would not lock, so we had to get that fixed. We also noticed the window was not locked, just closed. We also noticed that the door had a hole in it at child level so a child could stand at the front door and see through the door and watch you dress. This they fixed with a piece of tape over the hole. The shower hose leaked and the fan couldn’t keep up. After taking a short shower, it took about an hour for the fan to clear the mirror so you could use it. The rest of the room: There was a bulb burnt out, there was a lot of dust on the headboard of the bed, so much that my wife was able to write “Dust me” in the dust. It stayed that way our whole visit. The room was not vacuumed either. The continental breakfast was good on the weekend, but during the weekday, there were only a few items left. We stayed there to enjoy the indoor pool and hot tub in our spare time. So we were disappointed to see the hot tub was closed for repairs the whole four days. We tried the pool, but after five minutes of being in it and still freezing, we decided it must be broken. We checked with the lady at the front desk to see if the heater was working and why the pool was so cold. She checked it and said it was at 82 degrees at the pump and that is what they kept it at. It may have been 82 degrees at the pump, but the pool itself was much cooler. We have stayed at other Comfort Inns and the pool temperature was at a comfortable temperature. We stayed in room 107. Please check these items so the next person will not be disappointed. "
