Artango Bistro is a voyage to South American flavors. A little Buenos Aires in Chicago, and Ravenswood’s hidden gem.

Artango has long been a place for Argentine culture, tango music and dancing. The artistic spirit is now present in cuisine. You will dive into a unique dining experience with sounds, sights and flavors that you won’t forget.

Looking for a hidden gem or a romantic night out in Chicago? Try the best mix of Argentine steak, Peruvian ceviches, or inspirations from the Patagonia region. Diners will appreciate that Artango is BYOB. During spring and summertime, enjoy the outside dining area on Ravenswood Avenue.

The menu at Artango Bistro features fresh ingredients, including quinoa, mango, avocado, aji peppers, pear and yams. Meat cuts like Filet Mignon, Entraña, New York Strip and Rib Eye are Angus Beef from local farmers.

“We merge the heartiness of Argentine and Venezuelan foods with Peruvian spiciness.” Owners Maria Alferov and the Casanova brothers – along with executive chef Isaak Reyes – offer an innovative twist on Latin cuisine with food that is created from scratch using fresh, natural ingredients that are often locally sourced. Artango Bistro offers excellent South American fare with fresh ingredients and a twist: innovative dishes without compromising the provocative flavors of Latin roots. Executive chef Isaak Reyes, formerly of Bistrot Margot on Wells Street in Chicago, IL, provides an adventure in flavors with a menu that will satisfy all food lovers. Popular dishes include ceviche, causas, empanadas, arepas, filet mignon, duck confit, paella and homemade gnocchi with lamb.

South American cuisine is a reflection of a land with a diverse history and culture. Influences come from indigenous peoples and African, Asian and European immigrants. The products from the Amazonia are characteristic of South American flavors, such as quinoa and thousands of sorts of potatoes. The Southern tip bordering the Pacific provides seafood, notably dishes like ceviche or grilled fish. In Argentina and Chile, the Patagonia region features many cuts of meat.

Is South American food synonymous with hearty hand-rolled pasta dishes popular in Argentina or with the fresh cilantro-lime flavor of Peruvian ceviche? Both are key but are based on an array of cultural and culinary influences. Eastern European potato salad, Italian gnocchi, French croissants, and Spanish saffron-onion sauces are as today key aspects of South American cooking. European influences along with indigenous, African and even Asian flavors are the flavors you will discover at Artango.

Many ingredients present in South American cuisine include superfoods, or nutrient-dense foods that have been historically used for medicinal properties and health benefits. At Artango Bistro you can savor Peruvian aji amarillo peppers, purple potatoes and quinoa. Other examples include maca, cacao, passion fruit, guava and mango.

Enjoy a new kind of destination restaurant in Chicago with fresh, innovative food, a one-of-a-kind décor, and a space with rich history and love for culture.
