Outstanding location, beautiful sunrises viewed from the comfort of the many outdoor beds and chairs.

We loved being in Jekyll Island. The Holiday Inn was OK, clean but dated, still did not seem to justify the rate based on overall quality and amenities. The outside areas, beachside, were lovely and everything on the property was clean and well cared for. We had a meal in the restaurant, and it was good, not as good as the other meals we enjoyed on the Island. We were on the second floor, but were unable to roll the luggage cart to the elevator due to the maid's cart, left in the narrow walk, so hauled our stuff down the stairs. The breakfast/coffee service shut down early. We were VERY pleased at the ease with which the staff helped us retrieve items we accidentally left at the hotel.

We met up with family and had a wonderfully relaxing experience. It just doesn't get any better than taking a late evening walk on the beach, then gathering around the toasty fire pit near our room for fun conversation....mostly reminiscing about the many other trips we've taken to the same spot over the years! We especially loved having morning coffee in the 3rd floor coffee shop and chatting with the kind and interesting lady who worked the shop. To make it even more perfectly delightful, a Dolphin family swam by as we had our coffee on the third floor balcony!

Room had black mold on ceilings and on bedding. Bathroom was dirty and staff members smoked by main entrance.

On the positive side this hotel has one of the best beachfront properties I have ever been to with IHG. It also happens to a join a public beach park known as great Dunes Beach and is connected with bicycle trails to multiple other beaches on both sides of the hotel. On the negative side the breakfast was of poor quality with dried scrambled eggs and fruit which was Sour or not ripe. Dinner was fortunately much better as well as the drinks at the beach house which was the only full restaurant open on the property. I would definitely return and ask for a beach of you next time I return as well

Calling this place a resort is a bit of an exaggeration. I consider a resort to come with tennis courts, Golf Course, Spa, found a full gym and on-site restaurant. Well there is a restaurant in the adjoining building which is part of the complex the food was average at best. Linda up upstairs in the bar was very nice however and made very strong drinks and was a competent bartender the grounds were actually lovely and the location is the real star as it is right next to great Dunes Beach which makes this location one of the best and the IHG properties on the East Coast

Franc, Thank you for your review. I am sorry that you did not feel that we were a resort location. As a hotel located in a beach resort area with our two fire pits, outdoor games, cabana beds, day beds, pool and pool bar, kids activities, coffee and martini bar (Thank you for mentioning Linda by name - we agree she is awesome!) and a full onsite restaurant complete with live entertainment we do strongly feel that we qualify as a resort, particularly with our private beach access. We do value your opinion however so we would like to ensure that you are aware for a future visit (which we certainly hope to welcome you back for!) we are thrilled to reserve tennis courts for you and we also offer golf packages which include breakfast and 18 holes of golf for two people each day. Usually this is my favorite hotel on the island, and I've stayed here many times but the service quality has been decimated. My room had dirty bed linens when I checked in, covered in pet hair on the outside and human body hair on the inside. I told the front desk and they didn't even apologize or act like they cared at all. When I came back to my room hoping to see new sheets, they had just remade the bed with the same disgusting linens. I had to go back to the desk again and request a room switch, dealt with another employee who didn't seem to care at all. This isn't the usual standard of service I expect from a more expensive property and especially one I've never had any issues with before. I am not the kind of person that complains, (in fact this is my first negative review I've ever penned in my entire life!) but that really left me with a sour feeling.

Nice place to stay but the check in was sloooooow.
