Services New Start Dialysis Center, Inc. Offers

In-center hemodialysis
This in-center service is when a person goes to a dialysis center for their hemodialysis treatments. Hemodialysis is a treatment that filters the blood of wastes and extra fluid when the kidneys are no longer able to perform this function.

With in-center hemodialysis once the person arrives at the dialysis center the health care team will take care of all aspects of treatment.

The typical dialysis session is usually four hours and during that time your blood pressure will be taken and the dialysis machine will be monitored. You are free to read, watch television, talk to fellow patients and care team members, sleep or any activity you can do from the dialysis chair.

At the end of the dialysis treatment, patient will be disconnected from the dialysis machine and vital signs will be recorded again.

Home dialysis
Home dialysis gives patients the opportunity to dialyze in their own home on their own schedule.

Patients are trained by medical professionals to do dialysis treatments at home. Training is conducted at a dialysis center and takes from two to eight weeks, depending on which form of home dialysis patients choose. When the training is finished, patients are able to perform their dialysis treatments at home.

Usually two types of dialysis treatments could be performed at home:

Home hemodialysis: It uses a dialysis machine to clean the blood. The patient's blood flows from his or her vascular access through a dialysis machine to be cleansed of extra waste and fluids and sent back into the body.

Peritoneal dialysis: Peritoneal dialysis uses the thin membrane, called the peritoneum, which lines the abdomen to perform dialysis treatments. A cleansing fluid is put into the patient's abdomen through a small, flexible tube called a PD catheter.

In-center nocturnal dialysis
With this service, patients receive hemodialysis in their dialysis center overnight for 6 to 8 hours while they sleep.

Dialysis is performed three nights per week by trained professionals in the dialysis center. Instead of the traditional 4 hours of dialysis patients receive during the day, nocturnal patients receive treatment for 6 to 8 hours while they sleep.

Going to dialysis treatment during the night gives you the benefit of daytime hours for work, school, caring for family and enjoying activities without taking time out during the day for dialysis.
