About

Kristie Prinz launched her law firm, The Prinz Law Office, in January 2004, following the sudden and unexpected collapsed of her 120 year old New York-based law firm, Pennie & Edmonds LLP.

In building The Prinz Law Office, Kristie was surprised to discover how few resources were available to assist her in making most of her firm’s day-to-day legal management decisions. Moreover, since most of her attorney friends and colleagues remained at large firms, she knew few attorneys who could relate to her experiences, and even fewer with whom she could consult for advice. As Kristie’s firm became more established and well-known, she began receiving calls from other attorneys all over the country, who sought advice from her on issues relating to building and managing their practices. Kristie recognized that there was an unmet need in the legal community that she was in the position to address. Thus, Prinz Law Management Consulting was born.

When Kristie is not working as a consultant and is practicing law, her legal practice focuses on representing high tech and life sciences companies in a variety of domestic and international transactional matters, including but not limited to technology licensing and research collaborations; development, supply, purchase, and commercial services agreements; nondisclosure agreements; mergers and acquisitions; and employment and severance agreements. She also works with companies from other industries on intellectual property and e-commerce matters. Her practice includes advising individuals and early stage start-ups to nonprofit corporations and even large publicly traded companies. Education
Kristie is a graduate of Vanderbilt University School of Law in Nashville, Tennessee, where she received her J.D. in 1998, and she completed the Global Bioexecutive Program at UC Berkeley Haas School of Business in 2005. She also a graduate of Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, where she received a B.Asumma cum laude in Political Science and Spanish in 1995, and she studied as an undergraduate student at the Universidad de Nebrissenssis in Madrid, Spain in 1993.

Kristie currently serves as the Co-Chair of the VOIP Committee and the Vice-Chair of the Programs Committee for the Science and Technology Law Section of the American Bar Association, Director of Life Sciences/Biotechnology for the NAWBO Silicon Valley Board of Directors, and Advisory Board Member of the Silicon Valley’s Chapter of Licensing Executives Society. Kristie was recently elected to become a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, an honor which is limited to one third of one percent of the lawyers in America, and she was selected to serve on the Nominating Committee for the Science and Technology Law Section of the American Bar Association.

Kristie’s other service includes the Cyberspace Committee of the Business Law Section for both the American Bar Association and the State Bar of California and the Life Sciences and Entrepreneur Venture Catalyst Program planning committees for the Women’s Technology Cluster in San Francisco, CA.
