Nest Bedding was born out of a desire to change the world. Regardless of your politics, you have to admit; we have created some horrible, toxic pollution. From the Gulf Spill, air pollution and cancer causing chemicals in our food and water, we are forced to change forever because of our actions. We all, individually, must change the way we live.
Gratefully, it's happening in the food industry, as organic and sustainable is the order of the day. Consumers are questioning where their food comes from, how it's grown and processed, shipped and stored, and how it affects their bodies. The same thing is just beginning in the bedding and furnishing world. Consumers are saying no to toxic foams and plastics, discovering that latex is not as eco-friendly as once thought, and questioning sources and content. We at Nest applaud this movement and are happy to be a part of it.
Just a couple of generations ago, our forefathers came to America to start a new life. And that life was simple, living off the land and being good stewards of the land and resources. At the end of the day, they lay down on beds made with what was readily available in their immediate area, much like the bird building it's nest. Straw, wool, cotton, hulls, horsehair: clean, healthy, eco-friendly, sustainable, biodegradable and non-toxic materials they could craft into simple bedding for their families. Sure, it took a bit of work to gather and make that "nest", but their labor paid off with a healthy place to lay their heads.
