About Momma's Mojo

Momma's Mojo [formerly "The Eatery] is a re-conceptualized neighborhood cafe & deli owned by Miami transplant mortgage broker, Maggie Lamorell who following the debacle of the real estate market in Florida, recently chose Alabama for a friendlier life within a warm community & a fresh start using some of what she learned in the kitchen with her own Momma. At Momma's Mojo, Maggie subtly blends in her Cuban-Spanish background, recipes & memories from the family kitchen. Though at present the menu has retained the deli's original sandwiches, wraps & salads, Maggie is slowly adding hot daily specials that nearly always include her Momma's Mojo [moe-hoe] Sauce; a traditional base sauce that originated in the Canary Islands of Spain, but was later taken to Cuba and now includes a heavy dose of tropical citrus & garlic with olive oil and other savory herbs & delicate spices. So come get your Mojo at Momma's!

When a company puts a coupon in a fund-raising book for a "buy one menu item, get one free" you would expect that it would be honored the same way as every other restaurant that I've used that style coupon at - buy a sandwich, get a sandwich. Instead, the person uses it to give me a free drink, after telling me that "I always do it on the cheapest items." I ordered the Cuban sandwich (which I was told was their best seller). For $8 I got a few slices of meat and a pickle on some bread with mustard and mayo. I could have made a better sandwich at home. Next time, I will.
