About Rush Appliance

Rush Appliance & Furniture is a local, family owned and operated business located in Fairfield and Carmi, IL. In 1927, John Rush started the appliance business. Later in 1949, John's son, Carroll fell in love with the idea of having his own store and started Rush Appliance in Fairfield, IL. After he got married to Kathern in 1954, she started supporting him in the business. In the 70s, they started selling furniture too. Due to a fire in their store in 1977, Carroll had to rebuild the business. Over time the business grew and gave them an opportunity to expand into Carmi. After expanding the business into Carmi, they purchased Hoskin's Appliances and added the inventories there. After the old theater fire in 2004, they added onto the east side of the building and expanded the furniture sales. After dedicating his entire life into the growth and expansion of the business, our founder Carroll passed away in 2011. His wife Kathern occasionally visits our store. Their sons Curtis and Terry and daughter Kathy Ingram have continued helping the family business and promise Service After Sale today! We currently have 8 members of the family working in the business. We're looking forward to serving the community for another 60 years with our affordable and timely services.
