Jay made an extremely stressful situation as easy as possible. He armed me with the knowledge I needed and always answered my questions thoroughly and honestly. His billing was more than fair. He stayed on top of the case, and I never had to ask him for the status of my case. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Jay is top notch. I am an out of State father who needed someone GREAT to represent me and Jay was that man. I cannot express how effective and professional he and his staff was in taking care of me and my custody issues. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars.

Since I am not one to normally write reviews, good or bad, this is incredibly overdue. Sorry Jay, for not having done this sooner! Up front I would like to say, Jay and Carol handled my case in such a respectful, responsive, professional, sincere and sensitive manor. Even my first phone call with Jay, reflected his true concern for both my son and myself. It definitely felt more like a relationship rather than someone hired for a service. The sense of a great team effort made the awful subject turn toward a more positive vibe. Jay was wholeheartedly committed to doing his very best toward my cause. His integrity and passion for the law and fighting for what is right gave me such hope and comfort when it was most needed. Jay is blessed with discernment, intelligence, and a tremendous drive. These attributes were proven true in the fact that he remained fully informed of all newly enforced and/or revised legal guidelines, regulations and procedures for the county he serves in and for the state. You will find his knowledge of, and experience with his peers (other attorneys), and associated judges is pleasantly surprising and proved most helpful. His quick-wit is an excellent weapon in all negotiations which was vital in my case, and his ability to maneuver the personalities we were dealing with is invaluable. It was a true pleasure working with Jay! I would not like to repeat the process of divorce and custodial arrangements, but if I had to, I would, without a doubt, call on Jay again. Oh and you know you picked a great attorney when the former husband tells you (even a year after the divorce), that he was out lawyered. Icing on the cake! I've been divorced for 6 years, and I still keep in contact with Jay and Carol- they care. Divorce is not fun. I'd say it was the most stressful experience of my life, but I can honestly say that I had the best attorney to help me reach my goals. Jay wasn't only effective in achieving almost all of the goals that we set up, he was also very effective in managing my emotions and my expectations- he kept me on track even when emotions got high. Smart, articulate, fantastic sense of humor- you need a good sense of humor in this situation, I think. Bottom line- I recommend Jay every opportunity that I get. If I ever need a divorce attorney again, he'd be my first and only call.

Jay D. Smith and his assistant Carol are fantastic. I absolutely recommend them for family law cases. The rates are reasonable and accurate (there was no "padding" of the bill which I have experienced with other attorneys). All communication was returned in a very timely manner and he followed through with the opposing attorney to keep the case moving. Jay remained extremely level-headed and developed reasonable and practical solutions in a high conflict case. He was able to provide excellent guidance and insight and helped me gain a significant understanding of what be accepted by the court and the opposing counsel. Jay assisted me with my initial divorce, a second adjustment and, recently, a 3rd time that included mediation. In between there, I went to another attorney that did nothing for a lot of money. The experience with Jay is results oriented and quick.
