Dr. Howell chose obstetrics and gynecology because it allows both primary patient care and hands-on surgical intervention. He has a special interest in pelvic support restorative surgery, including correction of urinary incontinence, and takes an active interest in developing and maintaining da Vinci Robotic surgery at Deaconess Womens Hospital. Dr. Howells father, Gaynor Howell, M.D., is a retired OB/GYN physician. Dr. Howell is a member of the Vanderburgh County Medical Society, Indiana State Medical Society, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine. He is an athlete who especially enjoys swimming, bicycling and running. Dr. Howell competes in triathlons of all distances including Ironman Wisconsin and Ironman Coeur d Alene in Idaho. He and his wife are the parents of three sons and the family is active at First Baptist Church. Dr. Howell also enjoys photography, family bike rides, camping and music of all types.
