About Comprehensive Foot & Ankle Center

Dr. Nellas received his bachelors of science degree from Allegheny College in Meadville, PA. He attended the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine where he received the prestigious Earl G. Kaplan Award, which is presented to a senior student who demonstrates surgical and clinical excellence.

He then completed a three-year podiatric surgical residency at St. John's Hospital Macomb Center in Clinton Township, Michigan. Part of his training involved a mini-trauma fellowship in Austria at the University of Vienna's Clinic for Traumatology.

He was employed with Charlotte Orthopedic Specialists and OrthoCarolina for more than eight years before entering private practice. Dr. Nellas is affiliated with Charlotte Surgery Center, Presbyterian Hospital and Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. He is Board Certified in Foot Surgery and is currently a chairperson for the Podiatry department at Novant Hospital in Charlotte.
